Who we are

Start with what you can influence.

The Change Room is a team of specialists in leadership, culture, performance and recovery, working with Australian organisations including government, health and insurance. We help HR, operations and WHS leaders focus on the factors people can influence: stronger leadership, a healthier culture and better recovery support, with elevated performance as the outcome we pursue.

We work with your existing WHS, insurer and treating arrangements. We do not replace them.

Two connected pathways

Elevate performance. Prevent injury. Support recovery.

Prevent

Elevate workplace performance

Leadership, culture and psychological safety work that helps prevent injuries and reduce claims frequency. Psychological safety is people feeling able to speak up. Psychosocial risk management is the wider job of identifying and controlling hazards such as workload and role clarity. We support both, alongside your work design and controls.

Recover

Rebuild recovery foundations

Restore starts with behavioural foundations, then builds capacity and sustainable work, helping to reduce claim cost and duration. Purpose and capacity are outcomes we pursue, not guarantees. It complements the insurer and treating team, with individual suitability assessed before participation.

Pathway 1 · Across the workplace

  1. Stronger leadership and culture
  2. Safer, healthier ways of working
  3. Fewer injuries and claims

Pathway 2 · For individual claims

  1. Recovery foundations
  2. Capacity and sustainable work
  3. Lower claim cost and duration

Sustainable performance

Stronger people. Fewer injuries. Reduced impact of claims.

The pathways show intended outcomes, not guaranteed results. Recovery support is assessed for individual suitability.
What practically happens

From first conversation to review.

We agree which support your organisation needs. Workplace and recovery work can run together where appropriate, with a clear scope, investment and delivery schedule agreed before you commit.

  1. 01

    Strategy conversation

We understand your team, workforce pressures and who needs to be involved. Together we identify the priorities and agree whether a tailored plan or business case would be useful.

  2. 02

    Agreed scope

Before anything is approved we set out the scope, responsibilities on both sides, the time commitment for your leaders and people, the delivery schedule and how progress will be measured.

  3. 03

    Delivery

For employer-wide work, tailored workshops delivered in person, virtually or blended, with coaching for leaders and support to apply new habits at work. The timeframe is scoped and agreed for your organisation; there is no fixed duration.

  4. 04

    Restore, where suitable

Restore is a 13-week program with one-on-one implementation support, online resources and a two-day face-to-face Recovery Experience (9:00am to 3:30pm, not live-in). It is assessed for individual suitability, with the insurer and treating team involved.

  5. 05

    Review

Structured review against the measures agreed at the start, so you can see what has shifted and decide what comes next.

Training alone does not meet WHS duties. Psychosocial hazards call for work design, controls and consultation (see SafeWork NSW). Premium rules vary by jurisdiction and have several drivers (see icare NSW). Results are not guaranteed.

Common questions

Questions leaders ask first.

  • Usually an HR, operations or WHS sponsor, the leaders in scope, and for Restore the individual, their insurer and treating team. Responsibilities are agreed before approval.
